East Grand Rapids Community Foundation Establishes Permanent Endowment Fund
The East Grand Rapids Community Foundation announces the establishment of its Permanent Endowment Fund on December 1, 2006.
The Permanent Endowment Fund has been placed in the care of the Grand Rapids Community Foundation for investment management and donor assistance. All decisions regarding the distribution of funds to specific charities, the stewardship of the other funds held by the EGRCF, and other administrative and fundraising functions remain the responsibility of the East Grand Rapids Community Foundation’s Board of Directors.
Donors wishing to maximize their charitable giving tax credits can make checks payable and mail them to the Grand Rapids Community Foundation and designate them for the EGRCF Endowment Fund to be eligible for the State of Michigan tax credit for community foundation giving.
“We’re thrilled to meet our short-term goal of establishing the Permanent Endowment and excited to announce our partnership with the Grand Rapids Community Foundation. This opens up so many more possibilities for us” said Susan Armstrong, 2006 President of the East Grand Rapids Community Foundation.
Formed in 2000 by the East Grand Rapids City Commission, the EGR Community Foundation is a separate charitable organization now run by a 15-member Board of Directors. The EGRCF identifies worthwhile projects that are often outside the scope or scale of the city’s official budget. The EGRCF has recently funded several beautification projects in the area and most recently pledged funds for the completion of the Reeds Lake Trail.
